Episode 17: Winona Ryder's Biggest Mistake
We're in Maine! Sarah and Jane are deep into their vacation and invite you to enjoy this lovely episode in their absence. This week, Jane tells us all about the notorious serial killing crocodile, Gustave. Sarah covers the world famous literary hoax of JT Leroy. Two suspicious characters!
There's sugar coating it, this guy SUCKS. One might call Gustave the most prolific serial killer in the world. This Nile crocodile, which could be anywhere from 60-100 years old, has most likely killed over 300 people in Burundi. Not cool, man. Oh yeah, and he hunts hippos, which makes him the apex predators of apex predators. Better stay out of Burundi! But watch the film Primeval if you're looking for some fun dramatization of his wrath.
We all love Stranger Things, but sometimes people make mistakes, and for Winona Ryder (and others!) it was trusting literary hoaxer JT Leroy. JT Leroy was a fictitious persona created by writer Laura Albert. Albert convinced her sister-in-law Savannah Knoop to act as Leroy's public persona. The hoax went on for 15 years.
