Updated: Sep 4, 2019

Happy Filipino-American Friendship Day! What's that, you ask? Jane will tell you! Celebrate America's independence by recognizing its shady past! You can also celebrate by listening to Sarah explain how elections REALLY work so that you can be an informed voter in your state's primary (or caucus). Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

The Philippines have a long history of colonization. They were under Spanish rule for almost 300 years, until the Spanish-American War, when it became a colony of the United States. Do you know how the Electoral College works? When you vote for your presidential candidate, you're really voting for that party's electors to go to the electoral college in December! The United States's government has a lot of representatives in it and our elections are more indirect than we realize. Take a minute to learn more so you can be an informed voter next year!
